The offered autographed orbs feature two of the most influential off-field figures in baseball over the past four decades. Curt Flood and Marvin Miller are responsible for the destruction of the hated “reserve clause” and the implementation of free agency. Starting with Flood’s refusal in 1970 to play for the Philadelphia Phillies and continuing into 1974 with Messersmith and McNally, these men were baseball pioneers that rarely get their due credit.
Flood (d. 1997 “6-7” with ink fading/absorption) signed this ONL White ball (“6-7” surface discoloration) in black ball point, adding the inscription “To Dr. Pearson” (“6-7”). JSA Basic Cert (F07579)
Miller OAL Brown ball (“7” a few small stains) displays black Sharpie signature (“7-8” ink absorption). JSA Basic Cert (F07539)
