Description

The workhorse for Yankee pitching staffs during an uncommon lull in team fortunes, Mel Stottlemyre twice led the American League in complete games. This New York Yankees road ensemble was issued to the five-time All-Star before the 1975 season. The gray knit garments feature proper "Rawlings" tagging and include: Jersey a size "42" button-down garment with "NEW YORK" arched across the chest in blue-on-white double twill and "30" sewn to the back in like fashion. Blue-and-white striped stretch ribbed cotton lines the sleeve endings, and the right front tail is home to a "SET 1 #8P 1975" flap tag; Pants size "34" leg wear with (2) back pockets, (7) belt loops, a one-button zippered fly and a swatch (within the waistline) with chain-stitched notations of "Stottlemyre 30 75 1 25." The items exhibit light wear, though the jersey has discoloration (likely from previous display) and a stray pen mark. Stottlemyre possibly wore these items during spring training and was released on March 29. Full photo LOA from Dave Miedema.
